The Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD) brings together staff from the English Language Centre (ELC), the Foundation Centre, the Learning Technologies Team (LTT), the Academic Skills co-ordinator and part of the Centre for Academic, Researcher and Organisation Development (CAROD). It will help the University to meet its educational vision: “to be recognised as a world leader in teaching and learning, by creating, assessing and using state-of-the-art learning tools and instructional techniques to further staff development and provide a transformative educational experience for all our students”.

DCAD will be based in the new Centre for Teaching & Learning when it opens in September 2019. It operates on a ‘hub and spoke’ model, with centre members scattered around the University site and working semi-autonomously, but feeding into a central point of contact for students and staff.
