DUBC Female 7's racing at the Royal Henley Regatta

Durham University Boat Club (DUBC) compete in the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta 2023. Sensational performances on the water saw DUBC break records across the men's, women's and development squad throughout the week.

20th June 2023, DUBC competed in the week-long  prestigious Henley Royal Regatta. A record 41 members from across the men’s, women’s and development squad competed across the week.

After qualifying with a record breaking 3 crews for the Temple challenge cup. The men’s 2v and 3v put in strong performances but came up short against strong crews from Princeton and Cambridge respectively. The 1v made it to the Wednesday where they were knocked out after narrowly losing to Cornell.

The Prince Albert four made up from our successful development squad was incredibly impressive to qualify for Henley, a huge achievement for any rower, especially in their first year of rowing. However, they had an extremely tough draw on the Tuesday against Brown. The development squads strong performance on the water was unfortunately no match for Brown.

The highlight of the week was the Women’s 1v making it all the way to the Saturday where they got knocked out to the eventual winners, Oxford Brookes in a very close race. This is a monumental achievement and has never been accomplished by a Durham women’s crew before.

Overall, DUBC had another hugely successful and record breaking Henley Royal Regatta, which we hope to build upon in the upcoming year.
