Your Health

At Durham University, we take the health and wellbeing of our students very seriously. On this page, there is some advice and guidance regarding alcohol, drugs and sexual health, but you can find information on many other aspects of health and wellbeing on our Student Support & Wellbeing pages.

Alcohol and Drugs

If you're drinking alcohol on a night out, do drink responsibly. Eat before you go out and drink plenty of water or a soft drink between alcoholic drinks. Keep track of what you're drinking as well as how much. Don't leave your drink unattended.

The University works with the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service to offer support and education for our students and staff. If you have concerns about drug or alcohol-related issues, you can email CDDARS.uni@humankindcharity.org.uk. This email account is specifically for the use of members of the Durham University community.

Sexual Health

The NHS Choices hub on sexual health provides information on topics such as contraception and STIs. If you want to talk to someone about sexual health you can make an appointment at one of the available healthcare or GP services.

Welfare supplies may also be available via your College Common Room Welfare team - visit your College's web pages for contact details.
