Our college is beautifully situated on the hill, surrounded by extensive grounds that offer both peace and inspiration. We are uniquely fortunate to be adjacent to the university's stunning Botanical Gardens, with direct access through our own grounds. This proximity allows our students to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the gardens, making it a perfect setting for leisure and social activities.

With over 60 student-led societies, sports teams, and committees, our students have endless opportunities to pursue their passions, develop new skills, and make meaningful connections. Whether your interests lie in the arts, sports, volunteering, or leadership, you will find a vibrant community here that supports your growth.

Our facilities are designed to enhance student life and foster a sense of community. JB's, our popular bar and social space, serves as a central hub of college life. It’s not just a bar; JB's features a stage, extensive lighting, and sound equipment for performances, as well as three pool tables and two darts boards for some friendly competition.

Howlands Hall and Saltwell provide larger spaces ideal for indoor activities, formal dining, and college events. For quieter moments or group interactions, our college offers a range of inviting spaces. The Junior (undergraduate), Middle (postgraduate), and Senior (wider community) Common Room lounges are perfect for casual gatherings, sharing interests like crafts, e-sports, or board games, and simply enjoying good conversations with friends. Our dedicated arts room offers a space for arts and crafts where students can explore their creativity and engage in hands-on projects.

We are also proud of our extensive events program, which includes sports and e-sports tournaments, musical performances, formals, festivals, balls, and theatrical shows. These events not only provide entertainment but also foster a strong sense of community and connection among students. From lively festivals to elegant balls and energetic sports matches, there is always something exciting happening at Josephine Butler College.

The all-weather sports area and grass fields are perfect for everything from casual games to competitive sports, while our meadow and garden offer additional space for relaxation, gardening, and socializing.
