Workshop Week @ Durham 2018

A week of workshops - not 1 but 5 individual, yet overlapping workshops.

19th - 23rd March 2018: If you're reading this now and wish to attend, you're too late!

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
AM Turbulence profiling Profiling + Wavefront Reconstruction and control Wavefront reconstruction and control + Real-time control Real-time simulation Simulation + PSF reconstruction
PM Turbulence profiling Wavefront reconstruction and control Real-time control AO simulation PSF reconstruction

Workshop 1: Turbulence profiling (1.5 days)

Workshop 2: Wavefront reconstruction and control algorithms (1.5 days)

Workshop 3: Real-time control systems (1.5 days)

Workshop 4: AO simulation (1.5 days)

Workshop 5: PSF reconstruction (1 day)

There was a nominal charge of £50 for the workshop, payable to secure a registration. This is a flat cost, independent of how many workshops are attended. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Please note, the number of participants is limited by the size of the room (approx 100), so book early to avoid disappointment (or book late if you have more important work to be getting on with!) A small number of breakout rooms will be available if people wish to have separate sub-meetings.

Given the nature of Workshop Week 2018, there will not be a workshop dinner (we couldn't decide after which workshop to have the dinner!). However, restaurant recommendations will be made.

If you are unable to attend in person, we are strongly supportive of remote contribution, and are particularly aware of the climate change contribution that these workshops are responsible for. Therefore, we intend to operate a live stream of the talks and workshop sessions (probably using Zoom), and a slack channel to allow for typed contributions and questions in case of poor quality two-way reception. However, those participating remotely will be asked to treat this seriously, to free their diaries for the full time of their workshop(s) of interest, and to avoid other distractions. A test of connection beforehand will also be necessary.
