Our Exec for 2017-18
Sandra Macdonald (President)
Anne Murphy (Vice- President)
I'm really excited to be supporting Sandra as VP for Josephine Butler SCR. My connection to JB is as a Mentor, a role I really enjoy and which acts as an antidote to my day job, working in HMP Durham! I am a regular at SCR events including Book Club and co-ordinator for the Craft Club, I also enjoy attending formals, which is a chance to meet new people in a social setting & eat lovely food....Perfect!
Mark Bell (Treasurer)
I attended Durham Johnston Comprehensive school from 1990 to 1997 where I obtained 9 GCSE's and 3 A Levels before going to Durham University. At Durham I was a student at the College of St Hild and St Bede and studied Education gaining a BA (Hons) Education in 2000. My employment history is varied, from Education and retail sales through to mid management and Leisure & Tourism.
Currently I work at Durham Amateur Rowing Club where my time is split between managing the facilities, inc. social and conference bookings and working in the Study Support Centre based at the club. The study support centre works with children from age 5 to 18 from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs, where we use sport (in particular rowing) as a tool to increase their Numeracy, Literacy, ICT and self esteem.
I was married to Megan, a University College student in 2004 in a ceremony at Durham Castle and in September 2005 our son Daniel was born. My own sports background as you might guess is Rowing and I have been a member or DARC from the age of 11 and rowing forms a large part of my life, although I have not competed in recent years. I have been involved with Josephine Butler College SCR for a number of years now, and am also a College Mentor.
Rebecca White and Ann-Marie Einhaus (Joint SCR Social Secretary)
I am a member of the English Department at Durham University, and have been a college and pre-sessional mentor at Josephine Butler for the past couple of years. I am looking forward to becoming more involved in the college SCR and working with my fellow social secretary, Ann-Marie.
Pam Burdis (SCR Secretary)
I am College Secretary and PA to the Principal at Josephine Butler and can be found in the first office down the corridor past reception. I have been a mentor here for a number of years now and I usually have a complete mix of both fresher's and returners. Both of my roles at Josephine Butler give me a great amount of pleasure. I have two children who are all grown up now and have flown the nest and no longer live with me but have families of their own now. They have given me three beautiful Granddaughters who bring me (and their Grandpa) great happiness. I live in a small village just outside of the city and I love gardening, baking, knitting and looking after anyone and everyone who will let me.
