The Senior Common Room in each college consists of a mixture of staff of the university and members of the local community interested in taking part in the life of the college. It has both a social and community function - providing opportunities for meeting a wide range of people in an informal atmosphere and organising events such as meals, walking clubs, wine tasting, seminars etc. - and a role in working with the junior members of the college (the undergraduates and postgraduate students) in encouraging them to engage with staff and the local community in a less academic capacity than in their departments.
There are two groups of people we are particularly keen to have join us in the Josephine Butler Senior Common Room. We would like to hear from established members of the university and members of the local community who may bring their understanding of other colleges, the city and region and link us in with existing practice. We are also particularly keen to hear from new members of staff at the university who wish to become members and who are interested in forming a new SCR which draws on and extends the traditional functions of the SCR.
If you are interested in joining our SCR, please contact Sandra MacDonald on email@example.com
