What Butler postgraduates do
Postgraduates are members of our Josephine Butler Middle Common Room (MCR), represented by its own elected executive committee, giving every postgraduate student the opportunity to have a say in the running of the MCR. The MCR is also represented on our College Council providing our postgraduates with formal opportunities to influence the College. As a postgraduate student at Butler you have the best of both worlds as you have the opportunity to also get involved with events run by our Junior Common Room (JCR) of undergraduates, and our Senior Common Room (SCR) of University staff and lay members.
The MCR organise several social and cultural events during the academic year and of course College events are also timetabled in - formal dining three or four times a term, a Josephine Butler lecture series, College balls, book club and wine tasting to note just a few.
The College and MCR host postgraduate "scholars" suppers termly, where postgraduates meet together to discuss issues such as environmental change; an annual Dragons' Den competition for budding entrepreneurs and there are opportunities to join in performances with our choir, theatre and music groups.
There are also numerous sports clubs and societies, so plenty to do and relax after studies.
