Our Values

Josephine Butler College has some core values that are the basis of almost everything we do. Every student and member of staff signs up to these values at the beginning of the year and they influence how we develop.  The values are embodied in the following statements:

Josephine Butler College is:

A learning college: We view all aspects of the college as opportunities for learning, including academic, social, sporting, creative and cultural facets of the life of the college.

A grown-up college: We focus on the personal development of every member of the College, providing opportunities for individual growth in an adult environment.

A local college: We engage with the local community in improving the quality of life of those who contribute to our college and share our environment.

A green college: We commit to minimising our environmental footprint and to encouraging awareness of, and engagement with, environmental issues across the college.

A broad college: We provide a collegiate home suitable for those from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs.

A high quality college: We recruit high quality staff and students, from a wide variety of backgrounds, and retain them by engaging them in all the values of our college.
