Mr David Oakes

Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Accounting

David worked in industry and commerce for 13 years prior to academia and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant. A North American oilfield service company and a London based property company were his principal employers for this period.

He started his academic career at the University of West London and then progressed to a private accounting college in Manchester thereafter. He then spent 9 years working at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, one of South Africa’s top universities for accounting studies.

He returned from South Africa to spend 10 years at London South Bank University where he specialised in teaching Financial Reporting and Taxation. During this period, he also worked in the private sector again, this time on a part-time basis lecturing at various branches of First Intuition college.

He was nominated for the ‘Best Public Sector Lecturer’ in the 2018 PQ Magazine awards

David joined the Business School in September 2018 and teaches on a range of undergraduate and post graduate studies.
