Sebastian Aparicio is an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship at Durham University Business School. He is mainly interested in the effects of entrepreneurship and innovation on economic development from
the institutional approach.

Biography

Sebastian Aparicio is an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship at Durham University Business School. He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for University Entrepreneurship (Centre d’Iniciatives Emprenedores Universitàries –CIEU–, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona –UAB). In addition, he is a Junior Research Fellow at the Institute for Development Strategies at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (IDS-SPEA, Indiana University) and an External Researcher at Fundación ECSIM Centro de Estudios en Economía Sistémica.

He received a Ph.D. in Economics and Business (International Doctorate in Entrepreneurship & Management -IDEM-), as well as a M.Phil. in Applied Research in Economics & Business -MAREB- from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He also has a M.Sc. in Economics from Universidad EAFIT, and a B.Sc. in Economics from Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia). During his Ph.D. studies, he was Visiting Scholar at the IDS-SPEA at Indiana University.

He is mainly interested in the effects of entrepreneurial activity on economic growth and development under the institutional lenses. Some of his research has been published in various international journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Small Business Economics, Journal of Evolutionary Economics, and Futures, among others.
