Professor Nigar Hashimzade

PhD

Head of Department of Economics & Finance, Professor of Economics

Nigar Hashimzade holds a PhD in Economics from Cornell University. She undertakes research in applied microeconomic theory and time series econometric theory. Nigar is a Research Fellow at the Tax Administration Research Centre and the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and a Fellow of the CESifo Research Network.

Biography

Nigar Hashimzade holds a PhD in Economics from Cornell University. She undertakes research in applied microeconomic theory and time series econometric theory. Nigar is a Research Fellow at the Tax Administration Research Centre and the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and a Fellow of the CESifo Research NetworkPrior to her current position she worked at the University of Exeter and the University of Reading. Her previous research career was in theoretical physics.

Nigar's article Tax Avoidance: Rational Ignorance of Law was recently published on the blog of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at the Crawford School of Public Policy, ANU.
