#MildertMeans - our community ethos
The #Mildertmeans campaign is now heading into its second year, and I’m excited to see the ethos grows and resonates with another year of Van Mildert Students. Myself and the members of staff involved in this campaign are excited to be promoting it again, and to see how all students become involved with its messages!
The community here at Mildert is what makes this place so great, and this campaign aims to highlight the many different aspects of student life. One issue we are particularly passionate about is student safety, and we ask you all to remember to look out for yourselves and those around you throughout the year.
We hope that you engage with the campaign, and use it in everyday student life. Mildert is a diverse community with over 60 sports teams and societies, and thrives on students taking the lead and engaging in all there is to offer. #Mildertmeans different things to different people, and we hope over your next 3 or more years here you come to have Mildert meaning something special to you, in whatever way that may be!
I hope everyone is excited as I am for the year ahead, there are going to be many exciting opportunities for you to get involved in, and I encourage you to embrace as many of these as possible!
Van Mildert JCR President
I am absolutely delighted to introduce our #MildertMeans campaign. This is a key initiative aligned with the college ethos of sic vos non vobis (not for yourselves) but relevant to the changing times we live in.
The Van Mildert College community is inclusive, built on caring for each other and those less fortunate than ourselves through our outreach and volunteering. But the campaign too highlights the crucial areas of consent, personal safety and responsibility together with respect for the views and customs of others. We are a large college community where diversity is celebrated and equality taken for granted.
I encourage everyone in the community whether students or staff to become involved and engage in the key aims and objectives of the campaign, making use of the resources available and promoting the campaign through student-led activities and social media. Finally, I wish all an enjoyable, fruitful and safe year in the Van Mildert College community.
