Team Durham is based upon the three core strands of Participation, Performance and Community. Our Community Sport Development and Physical Activity Programme is wide ranging, covering a broad range of age bands and a variety of abilities.
Our Team Durham Juniors programmes boasts weekly clubs in Basketball, Tennis, Girls Football, Badminton, Futsal and Hockey. We deliver high performance academies and training opportunities in Cricket and Rowing and host County and Regional competitions in addition to our Holiday Camps programme.
We also provide opportunities for adults to access sport and physical activity provision, working with our community partners (Lanchester Road Hospital, Changing Lives, Blindlife, Waddington Street Centre and Resolve Care) where we use sport and physical activity to increase wellbeing and social inclusion.
We work very closely with the local community, working in partnership with organisations to offer a range of opportunities. These include a Walking Football programme with Durham FA, work with Durham City and Chester le Street School Sports Partnership to host a variety of festivals and events, we offer strength and conditioning support to the Durham Institute of Sport programme working with Durham County Council and work with County Durham Sport to support the delivery of the School Games Programme.
The University Sport and Wellbeing Park is home to many local clubs and teams including Durham City Harriers, Elvet Striders, Lazlo's Fencing Club, Durham Mums on the Run, Durham City Hockey Club, Shincliffe Juniors FC and Durham Women Football Club.
Volunteering and coach development is at the heart of our programme and we offer both opportunities to members of the public through our Holiday Camps programme and to University students with our Community Sport Activators scheme.
