College Induction Form For New Undergraduate Students 2020

This form is to be completed by all UK, EU, Islands and overseas undergraduate students EXCEPT if you are on an Erasmus/Study Abroad/Overseas Exchange Programme.

If you are coming to Durham on a Study Abroad/Overseas Exchange programme please contact stmarys.admissions@durham.ac.uk and you will be advised if there is a form you need to complete.

Please complete this form and submit it before the end of 31 August 2020 (preferences received after this date cannot be taken into account).

We are requesting the following information to help us prepare for your arrival. The information gathered is to help us contact you should we need to in advance of your arrival, to ensure we have appropriate emergency contact information recorded directly on your student file held within College, to organise accommodation and ensure it is ready for your arrival, to ensure any special dietary requirements can be met, and to create the lists required to administer induction week effectively.

The information provided via this online form will be held securely on your student file by the College Student Support Office for the duration of your studies and then destroyed.

The following information will need to be shared within the College/University in order for us to be able to ensure your needs are met within College/the University:

  • Special dietary requirements: the College Catering Team
  • Arrival date and time: the Housekeeping team and Reception
  • Name, contact details, subject, arrival date and time, and interests: the JCR President and Head Freshers Rep

Accommodation preferences are considered but cannot be guaranteed.  Single ensuite rooms are limited and priority is given to those who have a medical need for this type of accommodation.  If you have not sent medical information in support of your request for ensuite accommodation, please email immediately to stmarys.admissions@durham.ac.uk

If you have a disability that you have not disclosed to the University via UCAS but you now wish to do so, please contact the University's Disability Support Service: disability.support@durham.ac.uk

Please note that St Mary's can only offer catered contracts - we have no self-catered accommodation.  The majority of rooms are available from Induction Week through to the end of the academic year but we also have a small number of rooms that can be offered on a term-time only (including Induction Week) basis, which are located in Shoichi or Etsuko Hall within the College grounds.

If you have any food allergies or other special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, coeliac) please inidcate them here.

  • Students from within the UK, will arrive at St Mary’s College between Thursday 24 and Sunday 27 September during a time slot allocated by the College. This will ensure that we can manage the number of new students moving into their rooms on our site at any given time in a safe manner. You will find out your allocated arrival slot from the College no later than Friday 04 September 2020.
  • Students from Overseas, who do not require to quarantine upon arrival in the UK, should aim to arrive on Monday 21 or Tuesday 22 September 2020.
  • Students from Overseas, who are required to quarantine upon arrival in the UK, should aim to arrive on Saturday 12 or Sunday 13 September 2020 if possible, so that you can complete your period of quarantine before the Induction period commences.

 

Please ensure you organise your travel to coincide with these dates as unfortunately it is not possible for the College to accommodate early arrivals
