The Principal, as project leader of the Templeton sponsored Equipping Christian Leaders in an Age of Science based at St. John's , with Dr Kathryn Pritchard led an event which presented the first round of grants to initiatives from local churches to further the dialogue of science and faith. This Scientists in Congregations scheme is intended to enable scientists within churches to partner with church leaders for the benefit of church and community in exploring the big questions.

Projects came from a variety of church traditions and local settings - from Cathedrals to new churches and included dinosaurs in cathedrals, a messy science book of resources for Messy Church and a 'take your vicar to the lab' scheme.

The grants were presented by Dr. John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, who has been a strong supporter of this project and is also The Visitor of the College.
