Celebrate Science 2016

Enjoy a great half term day out for all the family! Celebrate Science is back with another 3 fun-packed and fascinating days of FREE childrens events, activities, workshops and experiments celebrating science!
Come along to the 'Celebrate Science' Marquee on Palace Green, where a wide range of free science themed activities will be taking place. Shining a light on lung disease, take a tour of the night sky and enjoy optical illusions. Children are invited to to carry out amazing experiments, participate in astonishing hands-on activities and create their very own inventions, with University experts on hand to answer questions from visitors on everything from molten lava to time travel!

The Styles Project – Defining, operationalising and implementing...

This lecture is presented by Dr Per Kind (School of Education). Reasoning is often taught in education as a topic-neutral phenomenon, for example, with focus on critical thinking and logic (i.e. deductive, inductive and abductive thinking). The styles project takes a different approach and focuses on the topic-dependent reasoning of academic cultures.

Professor David Held will deliver a Durham Castle Lecture entitled 'Elements of a Theory of Global Politics: from the Holocaust to the 21st Century'. Doors open at 7.30pm. Lecture commences at 8pm. Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. No ticket is required. .All are welcome.
