How to apply
We strongly encourage applicants to submit applications as early as possible, although there is no formal deadline.
Please consult our entry requirements before making an application to study Postgraduate Physics.
Please complete the Durham University On-Line application form, which can be found at https://www.dur.ac.uk/postgraduate/apply/ .Please indicate on the application form which of the Department’s five research sections you are interested in applying for:
- Advanced Instrumentation
- Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Atomic and Molecular Physics
- Condensed Matter Physics
- Elementary Particle Theory
You will also have the opportunity to upload your supporting documentation with your application. These should include:
Please note that we no longer require applicants to complete a Departmental/Initial Application Form in addition to the University on-line application process.
You will need to provide the contact details of two referrees on your application form in support of your application so that they can be contacted by the Department. They will be invited to complete an online form but can also send references directly to the Department, via post or email.
It is important that the email addresses that you provide for your referees are correct at the time you submit your online application form.
There are no set deadlines for applications to the Postgraduate Degrees in the Department of Physics, but there may be deadlines attached to certain studentships, awards or specific projects offered by the Department. Please check the relevant research section for details.
