+I am not a member of UCU, but I do agree with their protest and wish to strike in solidarity, is this possible?

Members of UCU can participate in strike action or action short of strike. Other members of staff (not a member of UCU or any other campus trade union) can opt to support the strike by not attending work on strike days. If they choose to do so they must declare their participation and pay will be deducted. The proposed action counts as “official action” only for UCU members. Staff who are not members of UCU, including members of UNISON and Unite, would sacrifice a number of significant legal rights by taking unofficial industrial action.
