+Should I inform the University if I am taking part in strike action?

Heads of Departments and/or line managers may ask members of staff whether or not they intend to participate in industrial action to help us plan, for example to determine whether an interview has to be rescheduled. However the University recognises that there is no obligation for members of staff to provide this information in advance.

You must confirm with your departmental contact if you have participated in industrial action so the correct deductions from pay can be made. A list of departmental contacts can be found in the FAQ 'Who should I contact to confirm I am taking strike action?'

For this period of strike action USS have recently notified us that they have put in place an alternative arrangement for life and incapacity cover to remain in place where full pension contributions are not being maintained.
