Topological Solitons/Numerical Analysis Seminar: Exponential Asymptotics for PDEs

Presented by Djoko Wirosoetisno,

14 February 2006 13:05 in CM221

"Exponentially small phenomena are ubiquitous in many dynamical systems. Formal asymptotics often give accurate estimates on exponentially small quantities for finite-dimensional systems, but things are more hairy for infinite-dimensional systems. In this talk I will discuss how one may obtain exponentially small (rigorous) bounds on a class of PDEs."
