Topological Solitons Seminar: Vortices, magnetic zero modes and Cartan connections.

Presented by Bernd Schroers, Heriot-Watt University

11 May 2017 12:00 in CM221

In this talk I will explain how one can obtain zero modes of the Dirac operator in three dimensions and coupled to a magnetic field from integrable vortex equations in two dimensions by relating both to (non-abelian) flat Cartan connections on the 3-sphere. This talk is based on joint work with my student Calum Ross.
