Numerical Analysis Seminars: Long-time stability of time-stepping schemes for 2d Navier-Stokes equations

We show that the gradient of the velocity is uniformly bounded when one uses the implicit Euler and Crank-Nicolson time-discretisation schemes to integrate the 2d Navier-Stokes equations. A CFL-type timestep restriction is needed for the C-N scheme but not for implicit Euler. (Joint work with F. Tone
