Gandalf (Pure Maths Student Seminar): Modular Invariance in String Theory
2 December 2015 16:00 in CM221
Elliptic functions and modular forms are a common feature in certain calculations within string theory. I aim to give a light overview of some aspects of string theory to provide some context, before describing various elements of the calculations involved.
Gandalf is the pure maths student seminar. Gandalf stands for the Geometry AND ALgebra Forum. It is run by and for pure postgraduates, but welcomes anyone who is interested in coming along.
Content from previous talks is available at the gandalf seminar home page.
