Gandalf (Pure Maths Student Seminar): Geometry of representations of finite linear groups
18 November 2015 16:00 in CM221
This will be an expository talk on sheaves-functions correspondence and its applications. I will start with finite Abelian groups and some involved arithmetic problems, and then turn to the characters and representations of Lie type groups.
Gandalf is the pure maths student seminar. Gandalf stands for the Geometry AND ALgebra Forum. It is run by and for pure postgraduates, but welcomes anyone who is interested in coming along.
Content from previous talks is available at the gandalf seminar home page.
