Topological Solitons Seminar: Gravitational Instantons and Charged Particles

Presented by Guido Franchetti, Edinburgh HW

5 February 2014 13:00 in CM219

In this talk I will review some ideas from the geometrical models of matter framework, put forward by Michael Atiyah, Nicholas Manton and Bernd Schroers, which aims to describe elementary particles by means of 4-dimensional Riemannian manifolds. Then I will focus on recent work done by myself and Nicholas Manton concerning the description of charged multi-particle systems by means of ALF gravitational instantons.
