Numerical Analysis Seminars: Rotating Navier-Stokes equations -- zonal flows and attractor dimension

We prove that the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations on the
beta-plane and a rotating sphere tends towards zonal flows as the rotation
rate tends to infinity. We then discuss how this affects the dimension of
the global attractor (upper and lower bounds).
