Topological Solitons Seminar: Skyrmion Stars and the Multilayered Rational Map Ansatz

Presented by Susan Nelmes, Durham

23 November 2011 13:00 in CM221

Previous studies have shown that gravitating Skyrmions produced using rational maps can achieve spherically symmetric, multi-baryon, bound states at large baryon numbers but these configurations were hollow shells. I will discuss how improvements have been made on this previous work by constructing configurations corresponding to solid spheres with a radius dependent baryon density.
