Numerical Analysis Seminars: Attractor and Slow Manifold in the Primitive Equations

Presented by Djoko Wirosoetisno, Durham Universityjoint work with Roger Temam

20 February 2009 14:15 in CG60

It has been recently proved that, with reasonable hypotheses,
the primitive equations of the ocean is globally well-posed and it
possesses a finite-dimensional attractor. I will discuss how this
attractor relates to the asymptotic
concept of "slow manifold", thus giving a rigorous framework for the
latter.
