Durham University

Department of Geography

Teaching & Learning

At Durham, you will be taught by leading international research experts across a wide span of the discipline of Geography. Our staff are exceptionally well-placed:

  • to inspire your interest in the subject and in new areas
  • to support your progression through introductory to advanced material
  • to involve you in learning about cutting-edge research questions and projects
  • to develop your own independent research projects, under expert supervision

We recognise that your academic progression to the highest level must be supported by superb teaching, as well as excellence in learning facilities and support. We are fortunate to be able to provide the best of both for you during your time in Geography at Durham through a variety of modules through which you can focus your course of studies.

Below are a number of module infographics to help get you started. These provide a snapshot of different modules across our BSc and BA programs and of the teaching and learning methods we use. These snapshots are subject to change as we enhance our module offerings, and so the actual modules may look slightly different. Currently, these are available for all Level 1 modules. But we are keen for you to see what your Geography degree at Durham can look like and so will be adding more when they are ready!
