A Wide Range of Relevant Skills

Durham Geography graduates are literate, numerate and articulate. Their skills include: critical thinking, excellent time management, effective teamwork, collecting and summarising data and presenting it clearly in appropriate forms, basic statistics, data manipulation, writing concise reports and delivering verbal presentations effectively.

Our BSc programme additionally provides advanced skills in spatial analysis, statistical methods, GIS mapping and specialist field and laboratory research methods.

Our BA programme teaches additional skills such as: technical competence with a number of qualitative methods of research and analysis; presentation and analysis of visual materials; social and emotional skills developed through research with people from different backgrounds and production of user-friendly reports for audiences outside the University such as local community organisations.
