Research

The aim of the project is to develop techniques to sense river channel processes using acoustic methods. Standard techniques for river monitoring require in-channel equipment and field calibration, and consequently are difficult to implement at a catchment-wide scale. This project will develop an Internet-of-Things approach to catchment-scale river channel monitoring, which will be based on the collection and analysis of acoustic data. One application of the project results could be an early-warning system for flood events.
