We are particularly keen to see applications from international students who are not citizens of the UK or the European Union.
We have a large number of international postgraduate students registered for both Masters and PhD programmes as well as extensive staff experience in the delivery of high quality training and support.
Many international students are eligible for one of a number of prestigious studentship awards and we encourage you to explore the following avenues:
The British Council
The British Council hosts information on a range of scholarships for study in the UK. It has an excellent search engine for scholarship information (see the 'Scholarship Search' boxes on the page).
Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships give talented students from anywhere in the Commonwealth the opportunity to gain a Master's degree, while developing new skills, experiencing life in another country, and building their global networks.
Commonwealth Studentships (Human Geography and Physical Geography)
Applicants must apply simultaneously in-country. Students must be from Commonwealth countries and studentships are awarded under six themes (science and tech for development; global prosperity; global peace, security and governance; resilience and response to crises; access, inclusion and opportunity).
The deadline for 2019 applications is now closed.
Durham Doctoral Studentships (Human Geography and Physical Geography)
This is open to both Physical (both EU and non-EU students) and Human Geography (non-EU students only).
The deadline for 2019 applications is Friday 8th February, 2019.
