Reader in Physical Geography - Ref: 3173

The Geography Department, top-ranked in the RAE2008, seeks to appoint a mid-career scientist to join its Catchment, River and Hillslope Science research group and contribute to physical geography teaching programmes in the department. Applications are invited from candidates with interests in any area of quantitative research into catchment, river and hillslope science. We seek to complement or extend our existing expertise rather than duplicate it. An interest in hazard and risk and/or the technical skills to do cutting-edge science through expertise and innovation in key methodologies could be an advantage. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of internationally excellent publications and an ability to attract external funding and postgraduate students. The successful candidate will show a commitment to delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This non fixed-term post is available from 1st September 2009. Applicants must state how they will meet international standards of excellence as defined by the Research Assessment Exercise. This should include a personal research plan, which supports and enhances the research strategy of the Department. Salary: £46,278 Closing Date: 8th May 2009
