Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Ref: 3060

The Department of Geography at Durham University wishes to appoint an 18 month full time post-doctoral research associate from 1st April to work on a collaborative Regional Development Agency (One NorthEast) funded project being undertaken by the University of Durham and the mining company Cleveland Potash Limited. The aim of the post is to develop a model for the mechanics of evaporite rocks, making use of high pressure triaxial equipment housed in the Department of Geography. The post will involve working closely with colleagues from Cleveland Potash Ltd as well as the Boulby Geoscience team at Durham University.

Project Title: Boulby Geoscience - the characterisation of evaporite rocks
The research elements of the project consist of three key elements:
1. The development of our understanding of coastal erosion and rock cliff processes;
2. The development of our understanding of the mechanics of evaporite rocks
3. The development of our understanding of the mineralogy and structures of evaporite rocks in N. Yorkshire
