Research Associate - Ref: 2119

(28 August 2007)

The Department of Geography at Durham University wishes to appoint a Research Associate to work on a 6-month NERC-funded project, awarded to Professor Antony Long. The primary aim of this research is to better understand the long-term and recent deglacial behaviour of the Greenland Ice Sheet.

The overall aim of the project is to reconstruct the 20th century contribution of the Greenland Ice Sheet to global sea-level through using sea-level data from salt marshes and isolation basins to constrain a new glaciological model of the ice sheet. The post will involve completing detailed laboratory analysis of sediments retrieved from sites in Greenland that require analysis for their microfossils, macrofossils, grain size, geochemistry and other techniques.
