Royal Society of Edinburgh - Exchange Programme to China

(18 March 2005)

The Royal Society of Edinburgh, in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is inviting applications for its exchange programme to China. The programme is intended to facilitate, encourage and support research collaboration in all areas between research groups in Scotland and China. Applications are considered in all areas of science and engineering.

Grants are for short-term visits of around one to four weeks' duration, the key objectives being to enhance the research capabilities of individual researchers, develop international collaborative links, enable participation in international programmes. Both visitors and hosts abroad should have established contact before submitting an application, either by previous collaboration or by scientific correspondence.

Applicants must be working in a university or research institute in Scotland. They do not need to be fellows of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, but should be of postdoctoral or equivalent status at the time the award is taken up. It is expected that the Chinese host institution will belong to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
