German Academic Exchange - Research grants for PhD students and junior scholars: 1-6 months

(11 March 2005)

The German Academic Exchange Service invites applications for its research grants for PhD students and junior scholars. These enable academics in Britain and Ireland to carry out research in Germany for one to six months.

The grants are open to PhD students who have completed at least one year's research, postdoctoral research workers, and lecturers at the start of their university career. Applicants must normally be no more than 32 years of age when taking up the grant.

The grant comprises a monthly allowance of 795 euros to 975 euros, and a lump sum of 445 euros towards travel expenses.
