Geography Postgraduate Named UArctic Student Ambassador

Heather is a master's student researching climate change and glacial processes under the guidance of Professor Chris Stokes and Dr Nick Rosser. She comes to the UArctic ambassador position with extensive Arctic experience, including having served as an ERASMUS exchange student at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Heather will hold the UArctic ambassador post for three years and will attend a UArctic training session at the next UArctic meeting, in St Petersburg, Russia, as well as several subsequent UArctic meetings and conferences over her term of office.
Durham University is one of a small group of non-Arctic higher education institutions that have joined UArctic in order to support and facilitate Arctic research. Durham's UArctic initiative, which is unique to universities in England, is headed by Professor of Political Geography Phil Steinberg and supported by Durham University's International Office.
