Durham Geography graduate speaks at the O2 Arena

(10 September 2014)

The TEDxTeen event at the O2 in London is themed around the topic of 'Remarkable Disruptors'. David will share his experiences and talk about the potential of climate change to disrupt every aspect of our lives: "People still talk about climate change as an abstract scientific concept, almost as if we are observing these remarkable climatic changes on another world. We need to wake up to the very real impact these changes will have, not only on the natural environment around us but also disruption to our economy, energy and international security".

As an undergraduate at Durham, David has been involved in educating the public about climate change and, together with a team of student volunteers, he organised an outdoor cinema screening of the award-winning climate change documentary 'Chasing Ice' in Durham Market Square. This event was followed by a 'Climate Change Question Time' in Durham Town Hall which David chaired, where academics from the department clarified the science to the public and debated pragmatic ways to tackle it with business experts.

You can read more about David and the event (which will be streamed live) on the TEDxTeen website.

Tickets for audience members are free and can be obtained up until 17th September. Subject to availability.
