NHS measures to exacerbate the 'north-south divide'

The plans by the NHS for allocating resources would see a measure introduced that takes in to account the age of the population rather than the current format of taking in to consideration the depravation of an area.

Professor Bambra and her colleague write that with higher life expectancies in wealthier areas the new measure could "undermine the principle of equal opportunity of access for equal need" and further exacerbate the north-south divide.
