Human Geography Seminars: Topoi / Graphein: Mapping the Middle in Spatial Thought

14th November 2018, 13:00 to 15:30, W414, Main Geography Building, Christian Abrahamsson, Department of Sociology and Human Geography, University of Oslo

The seminar will be based on Christian's recent book 'Topoi / Graphein: Mapping the Middle in Spatial Thought'. The aim will be to provide three spatial models through which we can conceptualise and work through some of the fundamental concepts of the human sciences e.g. time, space, change and the social. The first model is based in logic, the second in dialectics and the third in immanence. Expressed differently Christian will talk about identity, difference and pure difference. Christian will anchor his talk in examples taken from anthropology, climate science, the arts and mythology.
