Dr Claire Horwell (Institute of Hazard and Risk Research & Department of Earth Sciences, Durham University)
Claire Horwell joined the Institute of Hazard & Risk Research and the Department of Earth Sciences at Durham as an RCUK Fellow in 2007. Claire uses multidisciplinary approaches , enabling her to use novel techniques in the field of volcanic health hazards.
Quaternary Discussion Leader
Dr Chris Stokes (Department of Geography, Durham University)
Chris Stokes is a Reader in the Department of Geography, Durham University. His research focusses on glaciers and their interaction with the Earth's surface and the climate system, specifically ice streams. Chris uses remote sensing to identify palaeo-ice streams in formerly glaciated areas.
Earth Sciences Discussion Leader
Dr Paul Quinn (Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Newcastle University)
Paul Quinn is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at the University of Newcastle. His research focusses on how the landscape and water systems are managed, with respect to flood risk and water quality. His approaches include fieldwork monitoring combined with numerical modelling approaches. Furthermore, interaction with stakeholders (professional bodies e.g. Environment Agency, industry, public) is important in his research.
