I completed my BA and MA from the University of Delhi before arriving in Durham for a doctorate in English Literature. My field of research is contemporary women’s writings. I am in the process of examining women’s fiction emerging from different areas of the world, through the idea of justice. My attempt is to concretise alternative theories of justice propounded by certain feminist philosophers, by way of examining these ideas in novels being written by women of various ethnicities, from disparate parts of the world. Mine would be a comparative study, which would provide some insight into the different ways that women, and other marginalised sections, both in the east and the west, deal with the ideas of truth and guilt.

I am being co-supervised in this project by Professor Patricia Waugh and Dr Jenny Terry.
