Snacks and Share Research

4th June 2019, 15:00 to 17:00, Hallgarth House Garden (or Kingsgate DSU if raining)

An opportunity for postgraduate researchers in or related to English to share their research, hosted by the Modern and Contemporary Literature Network.

Do you wish you knew your fellow PG researchers better? Do you wonder what everyone is actually working on, day after day? Perhaps new avenues of collaboration or inspiration could be found, if only you knew what the other Durham PGRs were up to in the library all day. Well, then this is the event for you! The aim is simple: a relaxed, informal evening of short 5 minute presentations by PG researchers on their current research, eating a ‘bring and share’ collection of snacks and sitting in the peaceful setting of Halgarth House garden (if weather permits – if not, we will host the event in Kingsgate in the DSU, confirming on the day).

If you wish to join us and present the gist of your research in 5 minutes, please send as an email at modcondurham@gmail.com with your current working title (e.g. for your PhD thesis) by 30th May 2019 – this is all we will advertise on the event, and then it’s up to people to come along to hear what everyone is working on! If you don’t want to present, you are still very much welcome to join us – the more the merrier!

This event is open to all PGRs in English/related to English (you don’t have to be working on modern or contemporary literature to join us – because we know that interesting insights can be found across disciplines and periods, and it’s a great chance to get to know everyone!)

Contact modcondurham@gmail.com for more information about this event.
