CANCELLED Inventions of the Text Seminar

About the Speaker

Tom joined English Studies in 2017. He holds a BA and MA in English from University of Leicester and PhD from University of Edinburgh. From 2011-2014 he held a lectureship in English Literature (1945-present) at University of New England, and in 2014 was visiting fellow at the Humanities Research Centre, Australian National University, visiting lecturer in the Department of English Literature, University of British Columbia, and Courtesy Senior Research Associate I, Department of English, University of Oregon. Tom took up a research fellowship at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, University of Melbourne from 2014-2017. He is the author of The Anthropocene Lyric: An Affective Geography of Poetry, Politics, Place (Palgrave Macmillan 2015), co-editor of A Cultural History of Climate Change(Routledge 2016), and has been an editor for the journal Philosophy Activism Nature since 2014. The former President of the Association for the Study of Literature, Environment and Culture (Australia and New Zealand, 2012-2014) and advisory board member of the Australasian Consortium of Humanities Research Centres (2012-2017), Tom remains a key researcher at the Mellon HfE Australia Pacific Observatory, and honorary research fellow at University of Western Australia.
