St Erkenwald Hears a Heathen: Narrating a Goste Lyfe

8th November 2016, 18:00 to 19:00, Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Centre, Michael Baker

Part of the MEMSA seminar series.

The Middle English tale of St Erkenwald offers, in a co-starring role, the reanimated corpse of a heathen judge, who argues a last legal case: the injustice of having missed out on the salvation of his soul. But who, and how, is this goste speaking? This talk explores the narrative focalization of the unnamed undead.
