Lauren Owen and Dan Vyleta: Masters of the Macabre
A Durham Book Festival event, featuring two of the Department's creative writers.
This event celebrates two highly acclaimed authors, whose work has made a big splash over the last year. Lauren Owen’s gothic novel, The Quick, is set in Victorian England in the world of the mysterious Aegolius Club. Lauded by Hilary Mantel and Kate Atkinson, The Quick combines romance, adventure and horror.
Dan Vyleta’s thriller, The Crooked Maid, is set in Vienna in 1948, and was described by The Independent as ‘a thrilling tale of war crimes, family secrets, murder and blackmail’.
