From Memory to Fiction: Virginia Woolf
A staff and postgraduate research seminar.
Hans Walter Gabler, undertook, as editor-in-chief, the Critical and Synoptic Edition of James Joyce's Ulysses (1984), and the critical editions of Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Dubliners (both 1993). As Professor of English Literature at the University of Munich, Germany, he directed an interdisciplinary graduate programme from 1996 to 2002 on “Textual Criticism as Foundation and Method of the Historical Disciplines.” His present main research interests are the writing processes in authors’ draft manuscripts, their critical interpretation, and their representation in the electronic medium. He is presently Chair of the ESF-COST Action A32, "Open Scholarly Communities on the Web", where he is also a member of the Management Committee for Germany, and co-convener of Working Group 1, "Communities".
