Introduction

Interactive screen experiments ('ISEs') are an innovative technique which allows students to carry out experiments on computers outside of the laboratory with no specialised equipment to acquire new skills.

An ISE is not a simulation or a model which could lack real world details and is what someone else thinks the user should see, but rather a collection of hundreds of photographs of an actual experiment in progress which can be controlled interactively from their the browser, taking the user step by step through an experiment.
